The Minister of Lands, Housing, and Country Planning, Dr. Turad Senesie, has formally handed over a survey plan for a 168-acre land parcel to the leadership and residents of Charlotte, a community in the Western Area Rural District.
This handover follows a request made by the community two years ago, seeking official allocation of the land for development.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Senesie emphasized that the allocation aligns with President Julius Maada Bio’s commitment to preserving Charlotte’s historical significance. He reiterated the Government’s ongoing efforts to reclaim state land from illegal encroachment and ensure its allocation to deserving Sierra Leoneans for residential and developmental purposes.
“This is a promise fulfilled—to return Charlotte to its people,” Dr. Senesie stated, assuring residents that the land would be used for their benefit and to support sustainable growth.

Community leaders expressed their gratitude for the Government’s intervention and pledged to utilize the land responsibly to foster long-term development. They hailed the handover as a crucial step toward responsible land management and equitable resource distribution.
This milestone represents a significant advancement in the Government’s broader efforts to empower local communities, promote sustainable development, and reclaim state land for productive use. By fostering collaboration and responsible land use, the initiative underscores Sierra Leone’s commitment to inclusive growth and national progress.
