Kenema, Sierra Leone – Hawa Foray has secured a second term as the National Women’s Leader of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), following a decisive victory at the party’s national delegates conference held in Kenema.
The incumbent leader won 195 votes, defeating her closest rival, Fatmata Sawaneh, who received 73. Sawaneh, a former National Women’s Leader and Deputy Ambassador to Guinea, is widely regarded as a political rival to the country’s First Lady, Fatima Bio, a factor that added further interest to the contest.

Two other candidates, Alfred Yeama Kassay and Josephine H. M. Jackson, received 56 and 3 votes respectively. Five ballots were declared void.
Foray’s re-election signals continued support from the party’s grassroots and cements her role in shaping the SLPP’s women’s agenda as the party heads into a new political chapter.
