Sierra Leone Judiciary Concludes 2025 Criminal Session

The Judiciary of Sierra Leone announced on Monday, September 8, 2025, that it has officially closed the Criminal Session for this year, with a total of 1,659 inmates currently held in correctional centers across the country. Of that number, 1,561 are men and 98 are women.

The session was presided over by Court of Appeal Judge, Hon. Justice Alhaji Momoh-Jah Stevens.

According to the Judiciary, the next Criminal Session will commence on September 16, 2025, coinciding with the introduction of the new Criminal Procedure Act, 2025.
