Earlier on Tuesday, the Deputy Minister of Justice, alongside Attorney General and Minister of Justice Alpha Sesay, met with local councillors from the Western Area District Council, representing both the ruling SLPP and opposition APC.

The meeting pointed out the strong sense of unity among councillors despite their party differences.

Discussions focused on how local councils can support efforts to provide access to justice at the community level, strengthen peace and cohesion, and contribute to local revenue generation.

Minister Sesay emphasized that unresolved justice issues can negatively affect local economies and stressed the importance of ensuring justice reaches people in their communities.

He highlighted support for minors, persons arrested for petty offenses, convicted individuals benefiting from alternative sentences, inmates leaving correctional services, and other community justice needs.

The Ministry of Justice and local councillors committed to strengthening engagement on these issues as part of their ongoing efforts to serve the people.
