Alhaji Manika Kamara Announces Candidacy for SLAJ Presidency

Freetown, Sierra Leone – March 2025 – Alhaji Manika Kamara has officially declared his candidacy for the presidency of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) in the upcoming elections set for June 2025.

Kamara, who currently serves as SLAJ’s National Secretary General, brings extensive experience to the race, having held key leadership roles within the association over the past six years, including Assistant Secretary, Acting Secretary General, and National Secretary General.

With 15 years of continuous journalism practice, Kamara is a seasoned media professional and currently serves as News Editor at AWOKO Newspaper. His contributions to the field have earned him multiple local and international media awards.

“As the election process unfolds, I look forward to engaging with colleagues in line with SLAJEC’s guidelines,” Kamara stated, reaffirming his commitment to press freedom, professional excellence, and institutional integrity.

The SLAJ elections are expected to be closely contested as candidates present their vision for the future of the association.
