Bo, Sierra Leone – May 3, 2025- In a significant step towards party consolidation and regional empowerment, the All People’s Congress (APC) has officially launched the construction of its Southern Regional and District Party Office in Bo. The Turning of the Sod Ceremony was held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Kanga Village, along the Bo-Kenema Highway.
The event, held under the Grand Chief Patronage of Hon. Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray, National Chairman and CEO of the APC, was attended by a cross-section of party stalwarts, regional and national executives, constituency and district leaders, youth and women’s wings, and grassroots supporters across the country.
In what has been described as a “moment of rebirth” for the APC in the south, the symbolic act of turning the sod signals the start of a long-awaited project aimed at giving the party a permanent and dignified presence in the region.
“This is not just the beginning of a building; this is the beginning of a stronger, united, and more visible APC in the Southern Region,” says Mulku Suliaman Kargbo, the Project Manager and Southern Regional Young Congress Leader, who has been the driving force behind the initiative.
The project is expected to house administrative offices, meeting spaces, and training facilities that will cater to the coordination and activities of both the regional and Bo District APC structures. It aims to create a hub for political engagement, leadership development, and community outreach in the southern heartland.
The groundbreaking drew support and contributions from a wide range of stakeholders. Many made on-the-spot donations, while others renewed their financial pledges. Kargbo expressed profound gratitude to all those who honored their pledges and donated generously, stressing the importance of follow-through:
“We appreciate everyone who has supported this cause so far. We also encourage those who pledged to kindly redeem their pledges as soon as possible. The success of this project lies squarely on our collective shoulders.”
He went further to appeal to all APC members and sympathizers-especially those who have not yet pledged or contributed-to come forward and support the initiative.
The ceremony also featured messages of solidarity, cultural performances, and a renewed call for unity within the party ranks. Community members in attendance expressed hope that the project would not only foster political organization but also generate employment and development in the area.
As work now shifts from ceremony to construction, the APC Southern Region stands on the brink of transformation, with the new office poised to serve as a lasting symbol of unity, progress, and institutional strength.
