Sierra Leone’s main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) party, has released a comprehensive timetable for its upcoming internal elections and conventions, setting the stage for the party’s highly anticipated National Delegates Conference scheduled to take place from February 17 to 19, 2026.
The schedule, formally dated April 22, 2025, reflects the APC’s commitment to compliance with the Political Parties Registration Act, which requires all political parties to submit their rules and regulations to the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) no less than three months before the start of any internal electoral process. In accordance with this requirement, the APC will submit its election regulations to the PPRC on April 28, 2025.
The internal electoral process will begin with the publication of the Voter and Membership Register for ward-level elections by July 19, 2025. Ward elections are slated for August 10, followed by the release of delegates for the constituency conventions on August 13. These constituency-level events, including those for APC diaspora chapters, are scheduled for September 4, with district-level conventions to follow on September 30. The party will publish delegates lists for each level prior to the corresponding conventions, ensuring transparency throughout the process.
APC’s timeline also provides for the election of delegates representing various wings and groups within the APC, including the Local Council Group, the National Union of APC Students, the Former MPs Group, the Persons with Disability Wing, and other associate bodies. These elections are set for October 15. Regional conventions, incorporating the Diaspora’s Sixth Region, will be held on October 24, with special organs such as the Women’s Congress, Veterans Congress, and Young Congress convening on November 17.
In the lead-up to the National Delegates Conference, the National Secretary-General will announce the date and location of the conference on August 16, 2025. The agenda for the event is expected to be circulated by January 15, 2026, with the final list of delegates published two days later. The party has also scheduled deadlines to address any objections regarding delegate selections, with decisions due by January 24 and February 1, respectively.
The timeline was officially endorsed by Hon. Lansana Dumbuya, Esq., the APC’s National Secretary-General. This detailed roadmap not only underscores the party’s efforts to ensure orderly and inclusive participation but also creates the platform for a pivotal moment in its political calendar, as preparations intensify for the 2026 national conference.
