Appointment Committee Reviews Six Presidential Nominees

The Committee on Appointment and Public Service, chaired by the Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business, Honourable Mathew Sahr Nyuma, conducted interviews on March 24, 2035, for six presidential nominees designated for various positions. The vetting process was conducted under oath and broadcast live to ensure transparency.

In his opening address, Honourable Nyuma welcomed both the nominees and the public, emphasizing the committee’s role in thoroughly assessing the competence and suitability of the candidates. He stated that the nominees would be evaluated on their educational qualifications, professional experience, and past performance in relevant roles.

During the session, the committee interviewed:


• Ambassador Mohamed Foday Yumkella, nominated as Ambassador to the Sierra Leone Embassy in Conakry, Republic of Guinea.
• Dr. Abdul Rahim Jalloh, proposed for the role of Deputy Minister I in the Ministry of Energy.
• Mr. John Sumailah, nominated as Chairman of Rokel Commercial Bank.
• Madam Mary Massah Katta, proposed as a Member of the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA).
• Mr. David Fortune, nominated as a Board Member of the Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion.
• Mr. Moses Tiffer Baio, proposed as Chief Immigration Officer.

The vetting process concluded with the committee’s deliberation on possible recommendations for parliamentary approval of the nominees.
