Over 1,000 law graduates have so far applied for admission into the Sierra Leone Law School for the 2025/2026 academic year.
The school, established by the Council of Legal Education Act of 1989, opened applications on March 17, 2025, and is scheduled to close on April 17, 2025.
The application fee is NLe 1,500 for local applicants, while foreign applicants are required to pay $300. Payments are to be made at Zenith Bank SL Ltd.
The Sierra Leone Law School has also informed applicants of an entrance examination scheduled for July 2025.
The examination will cover the following modules: Torts, Contract Law, Constitutional Law, Equity and Trusts, Land Law, Evidence, Criminal Law, and Sierra Leone Legal System.
Currently, close to 500 students are preparing for this year’s Bar Final Examination.
The Sierra Leone Law School provides professional legal training and conducts final examinations for those seeking to become members of the legal profession in Sierra Leone.
Upon completing the requirements of the Sierra Leone Law School, candidates are awarded a Certificate for Call to the Bar by the Council of Legal Education.
Since 1990, the Law School has enrolled law graduates holding an honours degree in Law from the University of Sierra Leone or any other law degree from a recognized university or institution of higher learning in any Commonwealth country approved by the Council of Legal Education.
Since the profession is fused in Sierra Leone, practitioners can act as both solicitors and barristers. The training is therefore focused on teaching the practical skills necessary for the work of both a solicitor and a barrister.
