Babadi Kamara has been elected President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), securing a decisive 43 votes in today’s elective congress held at the Gateway Hotel in Lungi, a town within Port Loko District and home to Sierra Leone’s main international airport. His closest rival, Aminata Bangura, received 11 votes, while Umaru Bah managed just one.

Kamara’s election marks a shift in leadership at the helm of Sierra Leone’s football administration. Known for his involvement in club football, he now takes on the responsibility of leading reforms in domestic competitions, infrastructure, and national team development.
Oversight of the electoral process was led by Mohamed Koi Bainda Esq., Chairperson of the SLFA Electoral Committee. In June, candidates were vetted in line with the SLFA Statutes and Electoral Code, resulting in 16 individuals being cleared to contest various executive positions.

For Vice President 1, Alie Badara Tarawally emerged victorious with 42 votes, defeating Harold Nathaniel Bankole Johnson, who received 12. One vote was unmarked. Prince Kai Saquee secured the Vice President 2 seat with 41 votes, ahead of Christian Dauda Thompson who polled 14.
Ramatulai Kamara will serve as the executive’s female representative after receiving 39 votes.
In the Ex-Officio race, delegates voted for two candidates. Mohamed Sorie Jalloh led with 45 votes, followed by Kweku Melvin Sheldon Lisk with 38. Other contenders, Abdul Aziz Jalloh (17), Musu Bangura (16), Kasho Joseph Holland Cole (6), and Musa Komrabai Dura Mahmood (4), fell short of the threshold.
