Chief Minister Endorses Babadi Kamara

Must Read

In a powerful reflection on the cultural and social transformation unfolding in Bo, Sierra Leone, Chief Minister David Moinina Sengeh has explained the huge impact of Babadi Kamara, Executive Chairman of Bo Rangers. The CM praised Babadi’s leadership in revitalizing the city through both football and community engagement, with the Southern Arena serving as a central symbol of this transformation.

He recounted the excitement of a recent match between Bo Rangers and East End Lions at the Southern Arena, a state-of-the-art stadium built by BBD. The stadium was packed to capacity with a diverse crowd, including young women in jerseys, visitors from the UK and Freetown, and locals from all over Bo. According to CM Sengeh, this inclusive environment exemplified the cultural shift Babadi has brought to the city. Dr. David Sengeh marveled at how the atmosphere, once potentially tense, has become one of safety and joy, with spectators showing respect for one another.

“Watching fans, especially young women, singing and enjoying the game in a safe space was beautiful to see. Even in moments of tension, like when a fight broke out, the community stepped in to resolve the situation. This is the new spirit that Babadi Kamara has fostered in Bo,” he said.

The Chief Minister also mirrored on the match itself, where Bo Rangers were 1-0 down at halftime but ultimately won 2-1. He noted Babadi Kamara’s leadership on the ground, walking through the stands, chanting “Ya Na Bo,” and instilling confidence in the fans that their team would rally. For David Sengeh, this was a clear example of BBD’s ability to inspire and unify.

The Chief Minister stressed that Babadi’s leadership goes far beyond football. In a moment of crisis, when the CM received news that a colleague had been involved in a road accident, Babadi immediately stepped in to help. Despite the high stakes of the match, the Southern Arena CEO ensured that his private car was dispatched to take the injured colleague to Freetown and back, demonstrating his untiring support for his community.

“Babadi’s response in that moment was a testament to his character,” the CM recalled. “While Bo Rangers needed the points, Babadi showed that he is not just a CEO but a brother who cares deeply for those around him.”

David Sengeh went on to praise BBD’s impact on the city of Bo and beyond, adding that the transformation happening in Bo, both socially and economically, is evident for all to see. He believes that Babadi’s work could bring about a similar revolution in Sierra Leone football.

“Babadi Kamara has already proven that he can lead and inspire positive change. If given the opportunity to lead the Sierra Leone Football Association, I have no doubt he would bring the same energy, passion, and dedication to the national level.

“Babadi Kamara’s leadership is creating a blueprint for the future of Sierra Leone football. His vision is already transforming Bo and has the potential to do the same across the nation,” CM Sengeh ended.
