As the world prepares to mark May 11th—Marley’s Night—in honor of reggae icon Bob Marley’s legacy, Bo City will host a special event aimed at reclaiming the day’s original spirit of consciousness and positive change.
UPKONTRI VYBE, a movement promoting social awareness through music, is organizing a live band concert under the theme ‘Forget About Kush’ at Bo Shopping Plaza on May 11th, 2025. The concert seeks to combat the growing issue of substance abuse, particularly the use of Kush—a dangerous mix of cannabis, tobacco, and synthetic additives among Sierra Leone’s youth.

While Marley’s Night is traditionally a celebration of the legendary musician’s life and influence, it has in recent years become associated with risky behavior, including the use of harmful drugs. This trend contradicts Bob Marley’s message of self-awareness, peace, and liberation.
Headlining the concert will be renowned reggae artist and public health expert Dr. Martin S. Kandeh, popularly known as Cosko-B, alongside emerging artist Wyem and other performers. The event will blend music with powerful public health messaging, featuring talks from academics and health professionals on the consequences of substance abuse.

Organizers are calling on the public to support the initiative and help spark a cultural shift. “Through music, we can educate, inspire, and empower our youth to choose a healthier, more purposeful path,” a spokesperson for UPKONTRI VYBE said.

The ‘Forget About Kush’ concert promises to be both a musical celebration and a call to action for communities across the country.
