Domestic Tax Department Commissioner at NRA Embarks on Provincial Tour

In a bid to improve revenue performance, the Commissioner of the Domestic Tax Department (DTD), James Bobor Tengbeh embarked on a provincial tour in his department’s operational districts of Kono, Makeni, Bo and Kenema Tax Offices.

The Domestic Tax Department (DTD) of the National Revenue Authority is charged with the responsibility of overseeing and administering all Domestic Taxes that comprises of, but not limited to, Personal Income Tax (PIT), Corporation Income Tax (CIT), Pay As You Earn (PAYE), Goods and Services Tax (GST), Withholding Taxes, Rental tax and Payroll Tax.

The purpose of the tour was to have firsthand information and status of operations in all the provincial offices.

During his interface with staff, Commissioner Tengbeh acknowledged the contribution of staff at all levels in ensuring that the Authority attained the revenue collected in 2024. The Commissioner acknowledged the challenges faced in the first quarter of 2025 but craved the support of staff to be steadfast in their commitment to the Authority’s core mandate, by meeting and surpassing its revenue target.

He pledged his support to solve challenges that are within his control and escalate to the Commissioner-General’s office, those that require Senior Management Team’s attention. He then reminded them of the department’s contribution towards the Authority’s overall target, which he said is over 60%, and implored all to be mindful of the task at hand.

Emphasizing that “every office will be assessed based on the revenue they collect”. He also assured them of making regular visits of these nature, by even working in various stations at regular intervals. He concluded by leaving the offices with three words, discipline, filing and revenue.

Staff in the provinces applauded the effort of the “People’s Commissioner” and promised to give their maximum support in driving his and the Authority’s agenda to success.
