The third and final season of the global Korean phenomenon Squid Game has made history on Netflix, delivering the streaming platform its most successful TV launch to date.
Within its first three days, the new season amassed over 60.1 million views and clocked more than 368.4 million viewing hours. That performance has pushed the series to a new record for the platform. By comparison, Season 2 debuted last December with 68 million views, but over a four-day period.
The series has also entered Netflix’s all-time rankings, becoming the ninth-biggest non-English-language season ever. The first and second seasons still hold the top two positions on that list.

Though this has been promoted as the final season, speculation is building about an English-language remake. Acclaimed director David Fincher is reportedly attached to the rumored project. Fincher has an established relationship with Netflix, having worked on House of Cards, Mank, and most recently The Killer. He is also expected to direct a sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, based on a script by Quentin Tarantino.
Meanwhile, Netflix has already spun off the franchise with the reality competition Squid Game: The Challenge, which is confirmed to return for a second season.
Series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk told Variety that he hasn’t received any formal communication regarding a remake.
