Mohamed Barrie scored a late winner as Kamboi Eagles claimed their first Premier League win of the season by defeating Freetonians SLIFA in Freetown.

Kwami John opened the scoring for the Eagles, but Issa Kargbo leveled for SLIFA. Barrie then netted his first before Banious Bangura equalized again. Barrie scored in the 88th minute to lift Kamboi Eagles out of the drop zone and ease the pressure on Coach Jack Tonye Charles.

The Easterners, who gained promotion to the Premier League this season, have already lost three and drawn one. They will use this victory as a springboard for subsequent wins.

Freetonians SLIFA have now been dropped into the relegation zone after losing their fifth match of the season. They have secured only one win and two draws.

The relegation-threatened SLIFA will next travel to Bullum Stars, while the Eagles will host Freetown City FC.
