I am not here to interfere into politics -British High commissioner

Must Read

Simeon Mustard, British High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, on Thursday, 3rd October 2019, said he is not in the country to interfere in the politics of Sierra Leone.

Simeon made this statement in an interview at the British High Commission’s office in Freetown.

He mentioned that he can only give advice when he is asked to do so, and he can do so through the right channels and would not step beyond his remit.

“My job is to have a relationship with all the politicians in Sierra Leone and not to side anyone. If I interfere into politics it would be disrespectful to the people of Sierra Leone and the politics of the country,” he maintained.

He furthered that he will be paying visits to the various political parties in the country within the next few weeks.

He added that his predecessor, Guy Warrigton was misunderstood in some quarters that he meddled into the politics of the country but he is of the opinion that he did not- “the country is on a thriving democracy, and the atmosphere could be tense during the last days to the elections.”
