Judge Hands Diddy 4-Year Prison Term

NEW YORK — A federal judge on Friday sentenced music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs to four years and two months in prison, ruling in a case that exposed his involvement with violence, sex workers, and drug-fueled gatherings.

Combs, 55, was convicted in July of transporting people across state lines for what prosecutors described as marathon sexual encounters. The jury cleared him of the more severe charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking, which carried the possibility of life in prison.

In delivering the sentence, the judge said the punishment was necessary to deter similar crimes and noted doubts that Combs would refrain from such conduct if released sooner.
