Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Employment, Labour, and Social Security has directed all institutions and companies employing foreign workers to submit a complete list of expatriate staff by 17th February 2025, with the final deadline for submission slated for 28th February 2025.

In a public notice dated 5th February, 2025, the Ministry explained that this requirement is captured in Sections 11 and 13 of the Work Permit Act 2023 (Act No. 11 of 2023), which aims to support effective policy decisions.

Employers were requested to provide details, including the full name, job title, qualifications, period of engagement, and job responsibilities of each non-citizen employee working in Sierra Leone.

The notice also mentioned that all submissions must be in hard copy and addressed to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, adding that this notice replaces any previous announcements on the issue.
