Right of Way Restored as Police Dismantle Illegal Structures

Must Read

Freetown, June 8, 2025 — Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Sylvester M.N. Koroma on Sunday led a coordinated right-of-way enforcement operation in the Spur Loop area, a key location in Freetown that houses several diplomatic missions, including the Chinese Embassy.

According to the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) Media Team, the operation was part of a joint effort involving the SLP, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and other security agencies to address rising concerns over road encroachment and disorder in the Western Area.

A combined security team, made up of general duty officers and personnel from the Operational Support Division (OSD), provided coverage for a demolition exercise carried out by the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA), under the supervision of Engineer Scott. The team targeted makeshift structures, kiosks, and containers erected along the public right-of-way.

Officers were thoroughly briefed on rules of engagement before the operation, which was conducted without resistance or incident. The clearance exercise was completed peacefully, with police maintaining a strong but professional presence throughout.
