Freetown, May 2025 – Dr. Samura Kamara, the 2023 presidential candidate of Sierra Leone’s main opposition party, the All People’s Congress (APC), has raised alarm over what he describes as an act of security intimidation following the reported blockade of his residences in Freetown by armed security personnel on Labor Day.
In a statement issued on social media, Kamara expressed deep concern that both of his homes were surrounded and occupied by security forces, a move he believes poses a serious threat to his safety and that of his family and supporters.

“I urge the international community and moral guarantors of the ongoing political transition in Sierra Leone to intervene promptly and address this security matter,” Kamara stated.
Kamara called on global partners to appeal to President Julius Maada Bio to prioritize peace and de-escalate what he described as an “ugly and potentially explosive situation.” He warned that the current atmosphere is endangering not only his household but also the safety of many peaceful Sierra Leoneans.
“As it is now, the lives of my family and I as well as of those close to us and the majority of peaceful Sierra Leoneans are at serious risk,” he added.
There has been no immediate comment from government authorities or the Sierra Leone Police regarding Kamara’s claims.
