FREETOWN, May 2025 – Leone Stars head coach Mohamed Kallon has kicked off early preparations ahead of the final round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, assembling a squad of home-based players along with a few foreign-based professionals currently on off-season break.
The training sessions, underway in Freetown, are focused on improving fitness, as well as technical and tactical sharpness. Kallon’s early start is aimed at building team cohesion ahead of a critical stretch in Sierra Leone’s qualification campaign.

Sierra Leone is scheduled to face Guinea-Bissau and Ethiopia in September, followed by fixtures against Burkina Faso and Djibouti in October. With four matches remaining, the team sits third in Group A with 8 points, behind Egypt and Burkina Faso.
Every point counts as the Leone Stars aim to keep their hopes alive for a historic first-ever World Cup appearance.

Kallon’s proactive approach reflects a growing urgency as Sierra Leone looks to make a serious push in the final qualifying rounds.
