After weeks of speculation on social media, the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has officially confirmed that former national team captain and football legend Mohamed Kallon has been appointed as the new head coach of the Leone Stars.
The confirmation was made on Wednesday, in a press release dated February 12th, 2025, signed by Ibrahim Kamara, Head of Media and Marketing at SLFA.

Kallon, one of Sierra Leone’s most celebrated footballers, takes on the role with immediate effect, bringing years of experience and leadership to the national team. His first test will come next month when Leone Stars face Guinea Bissau and Egypt for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
The SLFA has expressed confidence in his ability to guide Leone Stars to success on the international stage, adding that plans to formally introduce Kallon at a press conference, with details to be confirmed soon.
