Sierra Leone Police has launched CCTV installation in Bo City as part of efforts to strengthen public safety and modernize law enforcement. Cameras are being placed in strategic locations across the Southern Region’s provincial capital to enhance surveillance, deter crime, and support more effective policing.
The initiative, led by Inspector General of Police William Fayia Sellu, builds on earlier efforts in Freetown and is intended to increase police visibility and improve investigations. One of the key locations in Bo already equipped with cameras is the Bo Government Hospital.

According to the SLP, the project is part of a broader vision to adopt modern policing tools and rebuild trust between law enforcement and the public. IGP Sellu has introduced a number of reforms since taking office, all aimed at shifting the police from a force to a service-oriented institution.
Plans are underway to expand CCTV coverage to other regional police headquarters across the country. This latest effort underscores the police leadership’s commitment to using technology to improve safety, accountability, and community engagement.
