A delegation of senior politicians from Sierra Leone’s main opposition party, the All People’s Congress (APC), has traveled to Abuja, Nigeria, to visit former President Ernest Bai Koroma.
Koroma, who left Sierra Leone in January 2024 for medical treatment, faces treason charges related to an alleged failed coup attempt in November 2023. His legal team has dismissed the charges as politically motivated.
Ahead of the visit, a letter dated 7th February 2025, addressed to the party’s Organizing Secretary, Bai Mahmoud Bangura, stated that APC National Chairman Minkailu Mansaray, Deputy Chairman Osman Foday Yassaneh, National Secretary General Lansana Dumbuya, and National Publicity Secretary Sidi Yahyah Tunis would be traveling to Nigeria to meet Koroma.
The delegation departed Freetown on 9th February and is expected to return on 15th February 2025.
During their absence, the party’s Organizing Secretary has been assigned to oversee party affairs and keep the leadership informed.
