Sierra Leone’s National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) has confirmed the collapse of a one-story building at Cemetery Junction, Congress Road, on the evening of Saturday, 29th March 2025. The structure, located at No. 4 Congress Road, housed a daycare on the upper floor and a residential unit below.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:15 PM while a men’s union team from the Blessed Assurance International Bible Church was conducting a home rehearsal for an upcoming Thanksgiving Service.
Tragically, one member, identified as Saio Kamara, lost his life and has been taken to Rokupa Mortuary. Four others sustained injuries—two have been discharged from the hospital, while the remaining two, in critical condition, have been transferred to Connaught Hospital for further treatment.

In response, NDMA’s Director of Relief and Response, Sinneh Mansaray, led a rapid response team to assess the situation and provide assistance. All occupants have been safely evacuated, and security personnel have been deployed to maintain order. Authorities have urged residents in the area to remain calm.
NDMA continues to monitor the situation and will provide further updates as more details emerge.
