A new multimedia company, Truth Media Sierra Leone, has officially begun operations with the launch of Truth Newspaper and the relaunch of Truth Radio 103.9 FM.

The company was co-founded by Amadu Lamrana Bah, former President of the Sierra Leone Reporters Union, who has long advocated for better conditions of service for reporters. A digital media–savvy journalist, Bah was named Male Personality of the Year at the 2019 AWOL National Achievement Awards and is a recipient of awards from both the Independent Media Commission (IMC) and the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ).

“Our mission is to bring a fresh perspective to journalism in this country—one anchored on truth, justice, and accountability,” Bah said. “We will hold public officials to account in a fair, transparent, and respectful manner, while amplifying the voices of ordinary people.”

The launch comes at a time when public trust in the media is declining and concerns over civic space are growing. According to Bah, the new platform aims to respond to Sierra Leone’s demand for fearless, independent, and responsible journalism that can sustain itself through public trust.

He reflected on the challenges leading up to the launch, noting that setbacks and moments of doubt nearly forced him to abandon the project. He credited veteran journalist Umaru Fofana, who recently advised him during an appearance on the Honestly Speaking podcast, for encouraging him to stay the course and remain committed to speaking truth to power.

Truth Media is duly registered and licensed to operate across radio, newspaper, television, and online platforms. The company says it will focus on professional and accountable reporting, with the goal of informing and empowering citizens to engage meaningfully on issues that affect their lives.

More information about Truth Media is available on its website, www.truthmediasl.com, and on its social media platforms.
