Ugandan opposition leader Kizza Besigye has been remanded in custody after denying charges brought against him.
He faces allegations of illegal possession of a firearm and soliciting military support overseas to destabilize national security.

Besigye and his assistant, Obeid Lutale, appeared before a military court in Kampala days after he went missing in Nairobi on November 16.
The court ruling on Tuesday permits Besigye to be tried on the charge of treachery, which carries the death penalty if convicted. The decision intensifies his legal battles ahead of Uganda’s 2026 presidential elections.
