The University of Makeni (Unimak) has taken a firm stance against academic dishonesty, expelling three students and suspending seven others for their involvement in fraudulent activities related to the issuance of fake examination passes.
According to the Office of the Dean of Students’ Affairs, a thorough investigation by the University’s Disciplinary Committee revealed that the expelled students were directly involved in the illegal issuance of fraudulent examination passes. In addition to the expulsion, seven other students were handed one-year suspensions for their role in aiding and abetting the illicit activity.
In a statement released by the University’s Public Relations Directorate, Unimak reiterated its continued commitment to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, ethics, and academic excellence.
The University stressed that such behavior will not be tolerated under any circumstances, stressing its role in nurturing not only academically successful students but individuals of strong moral character.
“Unimak remains steadfast in its dedication to upholding the values that define our institution. We will continue to take stringent measures against any form of misconduct,” the statement read.
The University also issued a stern warning to all students, urging them to refrain from engaging in fraudulent activities, with the assurance that violators will face severe consequences.
Unimak officials further emphasized that any future misconduct of a similar nature will be met with similar measures, underscoring the University’s zero-tolerance policy for fraud and academic dishonesty.
