Sierra Leonean musician Frederick Dapaye Peters, popularly known as Famous, has claimed he drives the most expensive cars among his peers in the country’s music industry.
During an appearance on the Shake Ed Extra Plus show, hosted by Master Jaye on the Afri Radio Facebook platform in Freetown on Tuesday, Famous addressed a statement from the presenter suggesting he is the richest musician in Sierra Leone. With a serious tone, Famous refuted the claim, saying, “I am not. Some musicians are richer than me in our entertainment industry.”
However, he did confirm owning the two most expensive cars in the Sierra Leonean music scene. “I cannot say I’m the richest because I don’t know what others have in their bank accounts,” he added.
Famous also disclosed details about his earnings, revealing that he charges £10,000 (Ten Thousand Pounds) per show in the UK, $7,000 to $8,000 (Seven Thousand to Eight Thousand Dollars) in the US, and $5,000 (Five Thousand Dollars) for events like birthdays and private parties. “I have contracts to back up these figures,” he emphasized.

Speaking on future plans, Famous revealed that he and a team of Sierra Leonean artists are working on performing at the O2 Arena in the UK. However, scheduling has been a challenge due to conflicting dates that do not align with fans’ availability. “You can’t expect people to leave work to attend a show on a Monday,” he explained. He added that Nigerian artists often book ahead of them, but they are still planning, aiming for either this year or next.
Famous also spoke about the challenges some of his colleagues face in advancing their careers. He criticized those who depend entirely on the entertainment industry’s growth and choose to relax when progress is slow.
“I believe in myself,” he declared. “I don’t care about the industry. I care about my career.”
