NRA Dismisses Finance Manager Over Tax Diversion Allegations

Must Read

Freetown, 25 June 2025 — The National Revenue Authority (NRA) has terminated the employment of Abu Kamara, who formerly served as Manager in the Finance and Budget Department, over his failure to cooperate with an ongoing investigation into alleged tax diversion involving Customs revenues.

Kamara, who is suspected of colluding with commercial bank employees and others to unlawfully divert taxes and duties paid through the Customs Services Department, was officially dismissed on 24 June 2025. Authorities say he failed to respond to multiple invitations from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and has been out of contact with the NRA for twelve working days.

Citing Article 10.4 of the revised NRA Terms and Conditions of Service (TACOS), the Authority confirmed his dismissal was triggered by noncompliance and absence without explanation during an active investigation.

Government agencies, financial institutions, and partner organizations are being warned not to conduct any official business with Kamara. Any attempt to act on behalf of the NRA will be considered unauthorized and will not be recognized.
