Bank of Sierra Leone Extends National Switch Integration Deadline to June 30

Must Read

Bank of Sierra Leone has officially extended the deadline for all financial institutions and fintech companies to fully integrate with the National Switch system. Initially set for 31st March 2025, the new deadline is now 30 June 2025.

In a press release issued on 10th April, the central bank stated that the extension is designed to accommodate institutions that were not ready to meet the original deadline.

The National Switch, a key component of the country’s digital financial infrastructure, is aimed at streamlining all domestic transactions through a unified system.

The extension applies to all financial institutions and fintechs, which are now required to route all domestic transactions via the National Switch.

Those that have not yet joined the platform are formally instructed to engage with the National Switch Department of the Bank of Sierra Leone to ensure full integration.

During the extended period, from 31st March to 30th June 2025, existing bilateral arrangements between financial institutions and fintechs will remain valid.

However, the Bank emphasized that no further extensions will be granted beyond this new deadline, and expects full compliance by the end of June.

The National Switch initiative is a significant step toward strengthening interoperability and efficiency within Sierra Leone’s financial system.
