The National Investment Board (NIB) has officially presented its 2026 Fiscal Year budget to the Ministry of Finance, receiving unanimous approval from the Budget Committee.

During the session held at the Ministry of Finance’s Conference Room, NIB Executive Director Dr Edward Hinga Sandy reaffirmed the Board’s mission to attract and support investments that will drive economic growth in Sierra Leone. He highlighted the recently developed National Investment Strategy (2025–2030), which aligns with the country’s Medium-Term National Development Plan and the Government’s Big Five Game Changers.

Dr Sandy also noted key reforms already underway, including faster business registration, increased digitalisation, and the creation of a one-stop investment service center.

“Our vision is to create a transparent, efficient, and globally competitive investment ecosystem,” he stated.

Providing a financial overview, Mr Mohamed Abu Sesay, Director of the Public-Private Partnership Directorate, reported that nearly US$6 million had been mobilised in investment projects, mainly in renewable energy. He also shared progress in supporting SMEs and improving digital services.

NIB’s 2026 budget focuses on four key areas: expanding investment opportunities, enhancing investor support, developing financing channels, and improving the business environment.

The session ended with a Q&A segment involving civil society, media, and Budget Committee members, where NIB reinforced its commitment to transparency and accountability.

Mr SEB Momoh, Principal Deputy Financial Secretary, praised NIB’s presentation and urged the Board to stay focused on attracting credible investment. The Budget Committee then approved the 2026 budget, marking a key step forward in boosting Sierra Leone’s investment climate.
